Schools and Coaching

Day three in Eureka camp! Today we did two activities, firstly we visited four different schools. The first school we were greeted with a lively welcome, we visited all the different classrooms and we had the change to interact with all the children there. At the second school we had the change to dance with the children and hold some of the smaller babies. We got to learn handshakes and dances with them. It was so much fun. The third school we got to see what the children were learning, although we didn't have much time it was a great experience looking at what different learning they do. Lastly, at the last school we were greeted with a welcoming song and dance, which made us feel welcomed instantly. We went around and interacted with the children, we taught them fun games and said hello to many children who were very kind and respectful. Going to all these schools has been an amazing experience we will never forget!

After we went to all of the schools we had our first round of coaching tag rugby with the children. I was one of the leaders for my group and we worked together as a team to set up the pitch, then my group played fishy fishy (bulldog) as a warm up game for the children. We had lots of fun and even though the children did not speak much English, they were very nice and they all had great sportsmanship. We then played a tag rugby game and the children were very good at listening when we wanted to talk to them and help them in their games. All of the children were very sweet and respectful, and they even taught me how to spin a rugby ball. At the end, they sang a chant which included them stomping their feet in time to the song, it was very fun and this ended up being one of my favourite days on the trip so far!
